Maia is Executive Director and Founder of the Center for Latino Leadership, a civic-engagement focused non-profit based in Washington State. Maia is also a for-profit small business owner, school music teacher, youth soccer coach, community liaison, wife, and mother of two children.
Maia became a single mother while still in college but with the help and support from many in her community she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University by age 20.
Maia was Legislative Liaison to the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs in 2017 and was appointed to the Race and Ethnicity Student Data Task Force for the Educational Opportunity Gap Accountability Committee under the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. She continues to work to address disparities in education and public works statewide through advocacy and education.
