Big tech has a big diversity problem. At Facebook, Google, Amazon and Twitter, African-Americans made up just 3 percent of the tech workforce in 2017. Women, meanwhile, make up just a quarter of those employed in STEM fields. What is needed is an ecosystem that creates qualified candidates by aligning education and access to training. Industry representatives and diversity advocates talk about what such a system might look like.
